Hello everyone!
I've bought a Canon Digital Rebel XT camera not so long ago. Since I have kit lens with the camera I'm not completely satisfied with the lens performance and like to go with a little begger zoom range. Recently one of my co-workers offered me a Canon mounted Sigma 28-135 F4-5.6 lens for a bargain price. Unfortunately he does not know whether this lens will function with Rebel XT and I cannot find any information about this lens.
Did anybody heard about this lens? Is it EF compatible?

Thank you in advance!

This lens was a quite good lens for its price, for film SLRs. Yes, it is a EF mount lens. You have to try it in your camera, though. Try it with large and small apertures. Some older 3rd party lenses give electrical signals that are not accuracte enough for the DSLRs of today, which make the camera and lens clash when you try to make a photo, ending in a generic error code (err_99).

This means in the case of a lens like this that with the communication about the aperture goes wrong. If this happens, you better avoid the lens. If it does not happen and the price is really low, then go for it.

Do keep in mind that the quite good Canon EF 28-105 f3.5-4.5 USM II only costs a bit above 200$, and that it has a silent and fast USM AF motor. So the price of the Sigma has to be quite a bit lower for it to be a bargain.

Thanks so much for your information!
It was very useful! The lens is definetely a bargain (it will cost $30 max) and I will try it before buying. As for Canon USM lens - I looked for it as well. But the price for the Sigma was very promising (I dont think I can buy something for that price) and I consider it's worth trying

Thanks again
