s2 which adapter setting in menu

I took my (raynox) teleconverter for a walk today for the first time, and came up with a couple of questions.

What does the camera change after I tell it that I have attached a tele or wide angle converter ?

Will the world stop spinning if I forget to tell the camera about it, or if I take it off and forget to tell the camera that it's gone ?

I don't have the specific Canon converter that the menu refers too, do I still tell the camera that I've put one on even though it's not the one it's expecting ?

I cant seem to tell the difference and i have the DC58B, i read on here i think that it has somthing to do with the auto focus or the AiAF beam or somthing.
