Hi all ive just brought my first digital camera (canon 350d) just wondering if ive done the correct thing. Are these cameras any good? are there any known problems i should look for whilst using it. Any help would be apprecated. I should have asked these qustions before puchasing it really but it a little late for that now!
I have one myself. I am not that keen on it so it's a case of getting used to it. It'll do pretty much everything you want. You just have to get used to its quirks.

Any help would be apprecated. I should have asked these qustions before puchasing it really but it a little late for that now!It can produce outstanding images...but many people complain of "iffy" focus. The ergonomics (if you can call it that) take a little getting use to, but all things considered, it's arguably the best entry level DSLR available. You get the same image quality of a 30D at half the price...something I just can't bring myself to complain about!
Congradulations!
It'll take wonderful photos, and that's why you bought it. Maybe you like the size and ergonomics, for sure it's smaller than the next model up.
Many-a-pro uses this camera, albiet when they're just getting started.
Main down sides I've heard about are inadequate viewfinder and some are suspicious of the focusing although some just don't seem to have that issue so that might just be a scapegoat. After returning to Canon for calibration (of body and lens) the problem seems resolved. It's also got a few less features (not many) and the next model up has far more handy buttons and dials. The high ISO quality, I believe, is very slightly better on the next models up, but it's barely noticable and debatable.
IMO, you got the "best" brand name.
The latest (30D) has a much bigger LCD screen on the back, and spot metering, plus a few other nicities, but the Image Quality is nearly identical.
So, if you were itching to spend double, then you really should have gotten the 30D. Scratch that, you made the right body choice, leaving you enough money to buy a great lens which is really where you'll see vast improvement.
Your body + L lens will beat the pants off 30D + kit lens.
