Hi everyone, I'm a first time forum writer and REALLY need your opinion to help me find camera. Believe it or not, I've been searching for almost two years since my last Canon went kaput. Here's the problem in the decision making: I want a digital that takes sharp, clear pictures especially in lower light situations. Now that in itself doesn't sound too difficult but here is what has caused the delay - my husband insists on a camera that takes excellent video in the Mpeg-4 type format for size and length capability. Every time I think I've found a solution, I read a review that either squashes the picture quality or video format/quality or something. Please help!!!

I have researched the Sony DSC-M1/M2, Casio z850 and z750 and EX S-600, Sanyo VPC-C5/6, Sony DSC W5 and W100 just to name a few. I know there's no "perfect" camera but if anyone has had any experience with any of these or another that might fit our parameters, I'd definitely appreciate your input. Thanks a ton.

I want a digital that takes sharp, clear pictures especially in lower light situations. And you haven't considered the Fuji F30? Probably the best low-light, non-dslr camera with manual controls that you can buy. Don't need manual controls? The Fuji F10 takes even better low-light pictures...

While I don't own a Fuji, I would have to agree with JTL. Read the review on this site for the Fuji F10 and you'll see what he means about its low-light abilities. It has impressive high ISO performance for a point and shoot.

See also Jeff's preliminary comments on the Fuji F30 under Buyer's Guide. "In fact, the F30 may be the best compact camera on the market."

The F30 doesn't have the MPEG4 video her husband wants.
