I have read previous threads/comments regarding the inability for the S2IS to automatically imprint date on pictures, so I realize that the camera just can't do this. What I'm curious on is potential alternatives for accomplishing this? I have read about using the DPOF to print the date if I am sending the files to a printer, but that's not really what I'm looking for. Is there software out there that will pull the date and place it on the image itself or how are others handling this? I realize there are various opinions out there regarding the aesthetic quality of dates on pictures, but for someone primarily taking family pictures and wanting to know when they were from (after editing some of the pictures, when the original info may be lost due to software used, etc), this is very useful (I'm not trying to win any photography contests here, just record family photos). I just purchased the S2IS last week and really like the camera, but I'm on the verge of returning it due to the lack of this feature. Any comments or suggestions?

Thanks!

Not really an answer to your question, I know, but if you want to stop your photo editing software stripping the EXIF info (i.e. the bit that stores the date taken, exposure length, etc.) from your photos then you could do worse than use a little free piece of software called Exifer (http://www.friedemann-schmidt.com/software/exifer/).

Faststone photo resizer (link (http://www.faststone.org/FSResizerDetail.htm)) can print lots of EXIF data on your images.

You can find the option in Advanced Options > Text.
$H gives prints the originial date and time on the photo.

This is an example:

Thanks - that looks like a good option. I found a couple different software packages that will do similar things so maybe it's not that big of a deal that the camera won't do this automatically.
