Hello all,

I'm a newbie in digital photography. My first camera is a Canon Powershot A620. I chose the A620 because it is affordable and I read many great reviews about it.

I recieved it about two weeks ago and I had an oppurtunity to use it twice. I loved it! The pictures were fantastic! Now, there is just a black screen and it won't take pictures. Everything else on the screen is visible (Canon Logo, stats and so forth) just not what the camera is seeing through the lens. The lens cover does open properly.

I purchased it trough Dell. They'll accept a return, they do not have another to replace it with. I contacted Canon. They say it sounds like a software problem.

My question is this, has anyone had good / bad experiances with Canon repairs? Or would it be better to return it for a refund? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I've had a good Canon repair experience...the mode dial on my S2 malfunctioned and Canon repaired it in about 10 days under warranty. The camera was 3 months old at the time...

But, with a brand new camera like yours...I think I'd opt for a refund and buy a new one...
