i was wondering if there wasa camera resolution that is one i can keep it on that's NOT 8m so i can save some memory?
or is it best just to keep it at 8m?
i don't plan on making any huge prints or anything-just on the computer, maybe tv and 6x4 prints

Well , its always best to shot at the highest resolution you can, as it gives you more room to crop later , but if you are not going over 6x4 or just showing on tv (which is very low resolution) then 3 megapixels (2048 x 1536)would be fine for prints up to A4/letter size or even 1 megapixel .. (1280 x 960) if you are not too fussy.
A 1gb memory stick is cheap these days (you have a N1 yes ?), and really the higher resolution is best , though as a balance a 1gb stick and 5mps will give you around 370+ pics

I wouldn't go less than 3mp just to give you more printing options down the road. According to the camera's doc a 512MB card should hold 300+ 3mp pics in fine setting.
