Which camera should I buy:
I would like a recomendation in the $100-200 range and the $200-300.

We do a lot of hiking so the smaller the better and a long battery life would be nice. Something that can handle low light at dusk or dawn when I am out on the trail would be nice. Weatherproofing might be nice, but not importants. I do not need a video camera, just stills. I would like it to have a slot for adition memory. An optical zoom of at least 3 or 4 would be nice. I do not need a huge LCD screen either.

Right now I have an HP715. Not a bad camera, but it eats through batteries, has trouble with low light situations, and it is hard to take super close ups.

$100-$200 range:
Canon A430, A530
Fuji A500
Nikon L2/L3
Pana LS2

$200-$300 range:
Canon A540, SD450
Casio Z120, S600, Z750
Fuji Z1, Z3
Pana FX01
Sony W50

Escept for the A530, the second group is a lot better than the first. My top pics would be the Canon A530/A540 or Sony W50. The FX01 and Z120 are quite good, also.
