Hi,

I own the Nikon D50 with 28-90 Quantaray lens for 3 days now. Problem is, i can't get sharp images out of the cam. The pics are soft(soft edges too) even if
i turn on the camera sharp setting. I did shots in auto and P mode. Can a experienced D50 owner please advice.

Thanks

With your present lens you most likely not going to get razor sharp photos directly from your D50. When I use my Sigma 28-70mm DG f2.8-4 mounted to my D50 the pictures (RAW & JPG) are somewhat soft until I PP them through Nikon PicturePerfect software and increase the sharpness. I would recommend you try this approach and see if you can live with your present lens. The bottom line is that your lens is most likely limiting your picture quality. Quantaray is generally good for starting lenses and learning your camera. A better quality lens will make a world of difference once your ready to step up. You may wish to post a picture if you should still feel that you have a problem.

Enjoy!
Ken

You're absolutely right. I used the software to sharpen and decrease brightness, because the pics were also a bit overexposed.
They look great now. Many thanks

Sims,
I would have to think it is probably a limitation of your lens, but you could post some shots with shooting data so we might help.

You may want to post in the forum below this one for Nikon dslr users, more users will see them there, so you can get more input.
