Hey all,
Going to place my order for the F30 and will need some memory to go with it. I'd like to pay the bit extra for faster write speed. My question is the only H Type xD cards are the Olympus brand, I'm sure they'll fit and work, but are the Fuji cameras compatible with the H Type write speeds? Meaning will my F30 take an Olympus H Type xD card and write to it 2-3 times faster than the standard M Type? Don't want to pay the extra if it's not going to do a darn bit of difference.

Thanks!

Troy

There's a page on the Fuji website which describes exactly which cameras are compatible with which memory cards. Can't remember the url, but it's fairly easy to find under support. For some models, it depends on the individual serial number, although firmware upgrades are available. I think most of the newer models support both H and M types of xD card.

Hi,

I wonder if anyone can help?
I have a Fuji F10 camera, which Fuji says is fully compatible with H type cards. I have 4 different XD cards ranging from 32MB to 256MB. The 256MB card is the only type H card. I've tried 4 different 256MB type H cards (3 Olympus and 1 Fuji brand) in the camera but all of them are incapable of successfully writing the image to the card. Everything looks fine on the camera but when I put the card in the PC the images are corrupt.

Fuji help desk are useless, the only recommendation is the standard response of- send the camera and card back to us and we'll have a look at it (which takes 3 - 5 weeks) and in the mean time I'm without a camera.

Has anyone experienced similar flaws with any brand using type H cards?

JoeC,

I too have an F10 and was interested in the H type card. Have you tried transferring the pictures through the camera USB? It seems as though many card readers do not like the M and H xD cards. If the camera is storing to the card fine, perhaps it is in fact the card reader that is not capable of handling the new format. Good Luck...

I had the same problem you have to update the F10 Firmware it is easy follow tis link below,Download the firmware from here http://www.fujifilm.com/products/digital/download/f10/
Then download instrustions from Here
http://www.fujifilm.com/products/digital/download/f10/fupd.html
Make shure you do exactly what it says and you will have no problems
:),Also some old &-1 Writers /Reader do not work with H type cards Try a firmware update on them if you can but it may be hard,so far cards that dont work that i have tried are Visioneer 12in1 & Sandisk 17in1 w/r.Fuji say all there xd readers /writer are fully compatable with both M/H XD Cards hope this is some help to you.
The print booths in the shops all seem to work fine with M/H Cards, Boots & Jessops ect..

I have a question on this matter: does the Fuji F11 actually take advantage of H type card?

I know it supports both format, but would the camera take picture faster with the H type? Does it drop frames/details when recording without H type? If not, then I might be inclined to get the 2GB M type instead.
