Hi, i've spent a while looking around at what different cameras there are and while its easy to look at megapixle to dollar ratios i'm finding it pretty hard to spot a trend and work out what you're getting for your money.
Budget
my budget is anything upto the $400 mark, a good deal is more of an issue than limiting my options with price. for example if there is a camera which performs outwith its *weight class* then it would be more appealing to me.
Size
Size is probably of the least importance to me, i would like something that could fit in a pocket if needed too but not be so small its fiddly.

Image quality is very important 9-10
whilst i don't really follow the manual control operations very well at the moment. i'd like to look for a camera which is slightly futureproof and will grow with me and my skills.
General Usage
Generally using the camera for taking holliday photos, photos at parties, so i'd like it to be hastle free and nothing too complicated
i probably won't be printing out large photos but i'm more likely to get a large photo and crop sections of it.
i probably will be shooting photos in all locations, indoors, outdoors, medeteranian sun, scottish dusk.
i won't be photographing anything particularly fast moving like sports play, mostly people posing for shots, landscapes, buildings.
Miscellaneous
if i use a viewfinder i use my left eye, i know some cameras are predomenantly right eye freindly, but it doesn't really matter if the camera doesn't have a viewfinder.
I've been looking at all different types of camera but can't place a make or a series that seems to be best fitted for me. I like the sonys and the canons.
blurred images is a pet hate of mine and image stability might be a good feature, i don't know how necessary it is with todays cameras.
