Aspect Ratio on Canons

My last camera was a Sony, which had the option of making your photo size (aspect ratio??) "3:2". I noticed on my mother's Fuji that it doesn't have that sort of sizing - so obviously, not all cameras have it.

My question: do Canon cameras have that 3:2 size option? I like that I don't have to worry about cropping etc when I want to have photos printed - still getting the 4x6 in photo easily. The next camera I'm thinking of buying is the Canon Ixus 800is (sd700)

Im not that good. Usualy when i take pictures i get about 2 of 25 that are worth printing. Those that i like usualy need some editing, croping is about the only thing i do to an image because i always seem to get junk in the background that i dont want people to see. Its so hard to see every little detail on the tiny little LCD so it never fails for me that i get somthing i dont want in the image.

Cropping works similar to "digital zoom" so why not shoot at the highest setting and then pickout the good stuff?

True... never thought to do them that way. I guess I'm just lazy, and like to have it done first go :D hehe

I think some photo labs also have the option to print photos in a size that's adapted to the aspect ratio of digital camera photos. The size they print, is 15 cm x 11 cm which gives an aspect ratio of 1.36 (camera ratio is 1.33). At least I've seen it here in Sweden. :) Maybe you could check that out where you live?

Thanks, but I kinda want it the other way around though - want the standard 10x15cm (4x6in) prints, and have the camera set up to have them that size. I tend to get my photos printed straight off my memory stick/card (rather than adjust them with Photoshop etc and then print them).

Last year I went to Melbourne with some friends - one of them printed photos out for us, and hers came out a funny 9.5x13.5cm size. I don't know what sort of settings her camera had. I preferred my prints in the standard size.

So does anyone know the answer to my original question? Do Canon cameras have a 3:2 size setting?

It seems hard to find that on digital compact cameras. But the digital SLR cameras have that as standard (made that way), like the EOS 350D.
