SD card quality

Hi
Do the quality of photos depend on the brand of the SD card? My SD card is 1GB and the brand is PNY. Also, does formatting make the quality of photos better?:confused:

No, and no.

Digital images are made up of data, as long as it gets written out they will always be the same. As long as the write succeeds, the images will be identical no matter which card you use.

Formatting doesn't affect image quality either. What it does is re-write the filesystem information on the memory card. It is possible to corrupt that information by certain operations, so an occasional format will ensure that the pictures get written out to the card and can be read properly. But, again, as long as the write operation succeeds the image quality cannot be affected.
