Can anyone offer suggestions on how to decrease the over exposed areas on the right side of Mathieu's face?

Thanks,

Bob

Can't say for sure but some details might be recovered by using the levels and shadows/highlight adjustments in PSE4 (Adobe Photoshop). One could possibly create a new level, mask off the blown areas of the face and apply some edits, as well.

If you don't have this or similar image editing software, try using the free Google Picasa2 software as it has some basic editing features that are pretty good for a free imaging program (google Picasa2...)

FWIW, After a digi's pixel is over exposed and fully saturated, not much can be recovered short of cloning other areas into the blown areas...

If you digi has a built-in histogram feature, learn how to use it to prevent the over exposure in the first instance...

If your camera supports bracketing, try it. It will take three photos. One will be at the exposer it thinks is right, one will be over exposed , and the other will be under exposed. Hopefully one will be what you want.
