Collapsible Rubber Hood

Anyone found a rubber hood that will screw directly to the camera body without the adapter I guess it would need to be quite long. The supplied adapter and hood are OK but I assume a rubber one will take up less room, they are also Ideal for taking photos through Glass, you place the front of the hood against glass it blocks out all the light from your side, you can even take flash photos fairly safely, great for visits to the Zoo, for the kids of course. ;)

Out of curiosity what is the thread size on the camera body :confused:

You will probably struggle to find a rubber hood to connect direct to the body.

You'll find that most rubber hoods have a double thread, one to fix to camera ADAPTOR and a front one to hold FILTERS.

With the FZ20 the cheapest route would be to add a 72mm Hood (Hama.co.uk have a number) to the Panasonic ADAPTOR and not to use the petal HOOD provided.

Don't forget that if using the Panasonic ADAPTOR to mount your 72mm rubber hood and a 72mm filter, you'll be back to the problems with the distance from lens to filter :)

Pemaraal have a number of 2nd quality PA62 adaptors, these are dimentional perfect but have very slight marks on either the black coating or edges, but are offered at a $10 discount ($22 = £12.40) plus $5 p&p.

So for $27 = £15 or there abouts you can get one.

I ordered mine on a Monday and it was here before that weekend.

Not too bothered about filters to be honest as it is digital I do not think I would do anything with a filter that I could not do in Photoshop, but Have found hoods very usefull in the past, May have to get a slightly larger bag abd take the Pana Hood with me, I went digital so I did not need huge bag of kit everywhere I went, 2 young kids make that near impossible.

The pemaraal PA62 ADAPTOR is only 30mm long add a Hama HOOD wich folds right back and a 62mm filter to protect your expensive camera lens. The total length of your camera from front to back will be 125mm.

With the Panasonic ADAPTOR measuring in at 50mm alone to start with.
