Hello everyone - I have been researching digital cameras for 4weeks and I am totally confused.
I understand megapixels (just), can see the value of a rechargable (?Lithium Battery) and buying extra Mb. storage device (I think), but there are so many Camera types out there.

I thought I'd cracked it when I found Cannon Ixus 55 only to be told that the Panasonic DMCFX01 had an image stabiliser and a wide angle lens, no optical viewfinder though.

So now I'm back where I began - I cannot make a decision and I need to purchase soon as I need to practice using before my sons big day (wedding).

Can anyone help? Thanks

No question that it can get confusing picking the "right" camera. You can make yourself crazy trying to study all the specs. My only advice is to establish some priorities - i.e., what is most important to you. Is it size, weight, type of batteries, amount of optical zoom, #of megapixels, optical viewfinder? Try to decide what your top two or three priorities are to narrow the field.

Once you have established a few cameras to choose from, then find someplace where you can try them. All the features in the world won't help if the camera has an uncomfortable feel for you. Finally, once you buy one, don't second guess yourself everytime you read or hear about some other camera that seems to have so many more features than yours for half the price. Make your pick and go shoot pictures. Enjoy. :)

Thanks for the advice, that really does help I think it has to be the latest Cannon because I'm not ready to just use the "screen".

So I'm off to investigate and find out what it is.

Thanks again and I will enjoy, I'm not the best photographer in the world by a long way - but I do enjoy it - even the mistakes.
