I have narrowed down my choices in buying a ultra-compact point-and-shoot camera; however, I can't seem to decide whether it would be worth the extra money in buying a SD700 or sticking with the SD600. I realize that you get an extra 1x zoom in addition to the IS in the SD700, but in looking at the prices I'm not too sure whether or not the 700 is worth the extra money (it also has so much of a nicer design). I have not been able to get my hands on a 700 to test it out (can't seem to find a store that has it in stock and the only one I was actually able to get my hands on was the SD600 and SD630) therefore it is a bit harder for me to differentiate between the two. It's also difficult because there is no review for the SD700 available here.

On another note, is not having a optical viewfinder that much of a disadvantage? I considered getting a SD630 but people continually kept pointing out that it didn't have an optical viewfinder and that I shouldn't get it because of that fact.

I wouldn't appreciate if someone would be willing to give me some feedback in helping me making my decision (I'm hoping to come to a conclusion within the next few days so I can purchase one prior to my return to school, which takes place in 6 days).

I personally wouldn't buy a camera without an optical viewfinder for two reasons. 1) Battery use - I backpack and battery use is a killer. I need to turn off the LCD to save juice. 2) Bright sunny days - The LCDs don't really work out on the snow in bright sunshine, I need the optical viewfinder.

I can't say if those two points are important to you.

I'd stick with the sd600. The sd700 review is now here if that helps.
