Olympus Camedia C720 flash issues

Hello I've got an Olympus Camedia c720 digital zoom camera which is about 4 years old and has always worked perfectly, however after coming back from a gig on Friday the flash does not seem to work, I cna take pictures fine without the flash popped up but the minute I pop the flash up I just get the red flash symbol as if it is charging and it doesn't do anything, I have tried recharging my batteries but no luck, I need it to work for Sunday nigth as I am covering a gig (I do a lot of live music photography). Anyone care to shed any light?

It is entirely possible that the flash is dead. It could be physical damage or it just burned out. You might try popping the flash up and down a few times to see if some internal switch is stuck. Otherwise, I would assume it is a goner.
