Canon A700 vs. Panasonic LZ5

I will be using the camera alot for pictures of my kids games. I like the 6x zoom and 6mp on both. I am parent just trying to get the best looking pictures I can. I will probably be making large prints . My wife likes the viewfinder on the canon. I want the image stabilizer on the LZ5. Our budget is 2-3 hundred dollar range. One that is easy to use is also important. Any suggestions would help.

Canon good - image quality, manual control, AA.

Panasonic good - OIS.

From the reviews here it sounds like the A700 has better photo quality. It may be hard to find for < $300 though. The Casio Z120 is cheaper, has an optical VF, full manual controls, anti-shake DSP, but only 3x zoom.
