I see a lot of traffic about how much better the pictures are in low light conditions but I've not seen any mention of if low light video recording works better than over cameras or not, and if so how much better. I usually use my old camera Fuji F420 when going out of a night (to a club or something) and although video is just about viewable its not that great due to low light. I'm considering the F30 as an upgrade (I only take clips so im not worried about the space requirements)
I have the same burning question about F30 low light video performance, but suspect that very few people currrently have an F30 to be able to answer it. So perhaps we can ask if F10 / F11 have superior low light video performance?
A related question on low light video -- I know that Casio EX-Z850 has a "video light" (the flash can stay on (probably at lower intensity) while recording video). Unfortunately the EX-Z850 video is reportedly broken (it is noticeably worse compared to the predecessor EX-Z750's video). Are there any other models with similar feature, and does it really help with low light video performance?

No camera will be good in low light -- the sensors have way too many pixels to have good light rating. Compare a 1/1.8" 6MP of F30 to 1/4.7" 1.07MP GS400/500. The GS400/500's low light is at best average.

The trouble with the light always being on whilst taking a video is that it would be very annoying in almost every circumstance. I'm not really expecting it to be totally great during the night just slightly better to make out whats going on.

What is GS400/500? The Panasonic 3CCD camcorder? I'm kind of all confused here.

The YouTube comparison , F30 and F700 , was great. i have heard a lot about the F30 in low light, but nothing regarding the movie mode.
Question: can the F30 take a 2 GB card? i think the F31fd does.

I would personally assume the F30 would do a good job in low light because my experience with high ISO shots is that they look really really good, when they stay small. For instance, I took a bunch of shots of a play so I was in Museum mode and they all shot at 3200. Those shots, blown up on my computer screen look like... well... 3200 ISO shots but... when I put them in our email newsletter at 300-400 pixels by whatever they look fantastic.
Seeing as the movie mode is 640x480 my guess is that even on a TV screen they will loo pretty darn good.
