I have a Pentax Optio S6. All I have is the stupid 64mb card that came with it. I would like to get a larger card. When I wrote to Pentax tech support they said that the largest card this camera will work with is 1GB. Now my question is which card. I am looking at 2:
1) Sandisk 1GB Secure Digital SD Card 1024MB 1 GB
2)SanDisk SDSDH-1024-901 1 GB Ultra II Secure Digital Memory Card

I just spoke with tech support at sandisk because I didn't really understand the difference between the two. She said that the Ultra writes and reads faster:

"# Minimum of 10MB/second** sequential read speed for ultra-fast image viewing and data transfer
# Minimum 9MB/second** sequential write speed lets you capture large image files faster"

So I called back to Pentax to find out the speed that will work in the camera. The person said "40 and 60x" Okay, so what does that mean? Sandisk talks in terms of GB/second and Pentax talks in "times".

Help - which should I get? I don't want to buy the ultra unless I am sure it will work. Suggestions?

1x is 150kb/sec.
10x is 1500kb/sec
100x is 15000kb/sec

The Ultra II is 66X read and 60X write ... just right for the camera.

But the tech support woman at Pentax said the camera is "40 and 60x" Isn't that slower than 60X and 66X? Sorry - I'm totally illiterate for this stuff!

She was giving you the minimum recommended card speed. The card cannot go faster than 60-66X, it can always go slower.
