I knew the risks involved, but thought that I had picked a good seller to do business with.
I guess I had a false sense of security because I had purchased SanDisk Ultra II CF cards before on eBay that were genuine, so I thought it would have been the same with SD cards, but I was wrong.
I guess SD cards are easier to counterfeit than CF cards. I purchased two 2GB SanDisk Ultra II SD cards, or what I thought were real.
In my card reader, their properties come up as having a generic manufacturer, rather than SanDisk. Also, the transfer rates are only 4-5MB/sec in HDBENCH, vs the supposed 9-10MB/sec.
Another problem is with lost shots, and sometimes causing memory card errors.
I knew the associated risks, but thought these would be the real deal. They even came in real SanDisk retail packaging.
How do I know they are fake?
Your Question/Problem:
Hello, I would like to know how I can verify that what I have purchased on eBay is a genuine SanDisk product. My items Serial Numbers are DAA2443217 and DAA2443243.
They came in retail packaging, and have a round, silver holographic sticker on the back, with "WORLDLINK SCIENCE 05A" around the outside of the sticker, with what looks to be Chinese writing in the middle area, as well, it has the serial number printed in small black on the bottom portion of the sticker. Also, the cards have "ASS0604DH" with "CHINA" below in white lettering on the back of the card.
When I insert the cards into my notebook computer's built-in card reader (HP), the name of the device shows up as "ASSD", is this correct?
I am hoping you can help me verify that these are genuine SanDisk products, to put my mind at ease.
Thank you!

So, there you have it. From now on, I will stick to purchasing only things on eBay that cannot be easily counterfeited, like diecast model cars, and things like that.
I might not necessarily purchase more Ultra IIs in the store, as they're quite pricey, but I will certainly not buy them on eBay again.
Regards.
