I'm in need of a digital cam for a beach vacation this weekend. Please may I have suggestions on a digital cam with IS, 6X or more zoom, good image quality , my max spending is $550. thanks

There are a lot of zoom cameras that meet that criteria. The cheapest and smallest are the Pana LZ5 and TZ1. Neither has a viewfinder. Do you need a VF? Does camera size matter? Do you like small ones or is big ok?

Most cameras can break if you get sand in them. Get a waterproof case for taking it to the beach to keep sand and water out.
