I just bought a Canon Powershot A75. I have always just taken point and shot 35mm pictures. I am getting ready to go to Disney for a week and need to know what size compactflash I should buy and what setting for my resolution (I think that is what it is called.) The default is large normal. A tech suggested super fine or fine. I have no idea. I just want to take pictures that I can get developed later if I want into regular 4 x6 pictures just like my 35mm. I know I need a bigger memory card but have no idea how big, what kind, etc. I would appreciate any help.
TIA,
Kirsten

I can understand where you're coming from. I have been deciding on which camera
to buy for my week Disney vacation in Dec. I have pretty much decided on the A95,
but still want to see how the review of the C-7000 comes out this month.
As far as the size of the CF card, I was looking to get 512MB or 1GB.
That is because the A95 camera is a 5 Mega Pixel and the images use
more space. You have a 3MP camera, so a 256MB or 512MB should be fine.
There's not a huge price increase between CF (128 to 256 to 512 to 1G) so I'd say
get the largest that you feel you can afford get.
You can also get two smaller ones...in case one goes bad or breaks.
I would also suggest using the SuperFine mode. What this does is uses less compression
when the image is stored at a JPG file. The less compression that is used; the better the image.
Less compression also means the image file size will be larger than using Fine or Normal, but
most people don't care what the file size is. They want the image to look the best.
Are you planning on printing the images yourself or taking the CF card to a store and
having them print them? If you are going to print them yourself, you should be
using a 6 or 8 color printer (Epson R200/R300/R800, HP 8450, Canon iP8500).
I bought the 6-color R200 about two month ago. Maybe once I get the A95, later get an 8-color printer.

Just a note on using 1GB cards. If you have a fault or loose one then thats all your pics gone at once. I would really reccommend using a number of 256 MB cards versus 1 x 1GB.
Although aimed at SD cards for the Panasonic FZ's this thread (http://www.dcresource.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1984) may help :)
