Hi - new to the forum and slr like cameras.

I've been looking for a good buy within my budget for a trip to South East Asia and seem to have narrowed it down to a few where the two star players are the s5600 and s7000.

with both of them available for ~£200 which one is better value for money? I'm especially concerned about the generational gap between the two.

Thanks in advance.

The S5600 is far better for sensitivity (to ISO1600) & noise than the older S7000. Also, it has greater zoom range (38-380mm equiv) and is a lot lighter.

It does only have 5Mpixels against the S7000's 6MP, and it only takes XD cards, no CF, but all in all, I'd say it's a better camera for the money. I did have a close look at the S5600 in the shop, before deciding to scrape together the extra pennies for the S9500!:)

Hi,
Not had any experience with the s5600, but I have the s7000. I also had the s9500 for six months, but sold it and bought a Nikon D50. But compairing the s7000 with the s9500, the s7000 is far better quality, just my personal opinion.
