I was user of leica 35 mm and 6x6 for B&W prints.... no more time for darkroom now. I was happy with my canon PS A40. only 2 megapixel, but smooth pictures with low noise, good enough for a small print. I got then a PS A75, 3.2 Megapixels, overall better pictures but no more so smooth, always a bit noisy. I need now a new compact camera with manual controls, quick autofocus (children!) about 35-100 mm zoom, and the capability to take good pictures for small prints. I do not need more than 3-4 megapixel, but I would like low noise and overall smoothness.
Can anyone help me?

Jeff recently posted an initial trial shot from the Fuji F30 over on the Fuji forum - very low noise at ISO1600! See "Impressive performance from the F30". His full review will be coming soon...

Although it's 6MP, I doubt if there are many quality cameras with much less around now.
