hi cant get the hang of all the different settings ,will auto do for most situations or do i really need to learn about my camera

Auto or the various preset scene modes will get you reasonable results in most situations, but to get the best results, nothing beats knowing what the controls do, how they interact, and the effects they'll have on the picture. I think the 5600 also has a Program mode, which is like auto, but allows you to "tweak" the settings a little.

Remember, YOU are THERE when you take the picture, the auto modes were written by a programmer in an office a few thousand miles away several years ago!:)

thanks alex ill try and use the program mode and see if that gets me better results
