Anyone else like to shoot fire?
One of many photos of a large fire yesterday. Although there are many more photos on my website (close, far, day, & night), I sort of like the following photo because of the heli in the smoke more than the fire itself. If the photo doesn't show up, it may because the "host" has been rather slow and having problems lately (later, I'll probably delete this one from my website though the smaller flash photos will probably remain hosted on my website).

Here is an old pic of a fire I took. We bought these crystals you throw in he fire to change the color of the flames.

How to tell there are too many candles on your cake.
(Actually a dish of "flaming beef" was served just behind it).

K1W1, that first one is really cool. But it does seem ironic to see fire photos from your section of the world just now.

Very good Kiwi, numbers 1 & 2 are both good to me. I like the colors and shades of #2. Fire is difficult to photograph well and you managed it.
As of midnight last night we can burn off at home again so there will be a bit of fire around the property this weekend. I'll be able to play with the D300 and 16-85. :D

Trust a Victorian :D to post a fire pic. That first one's a corker.
I tried fire a while back, no idea how you do that.

First of all you get out in the jungle, err garden and collect all the dead fern fronds, bark, leaves, etc.
Then you get a match....:)
In your case 70-300,mm lens @ between 200 and 300
Tripod
Manual exposure off the flames
Play with f stops and shutter speeds, From memory the second shot was a longer shutter speed maybe 1/125 while the first one was more like 1/500.
