Today I have been to Rotterdam and took my camera with me. Here are some of the shots I took today. Comments and criticism are welcome.

On this picture you see the old port of Rotterdam, it's no longer in use except for recreation and tourism, unlike the newer port of Rotterdam which is one of the largests in the world.

This picture shows the first skyscraper of the Netherlands, a whopping eleven stories high :).

And on this picture you can see the Nationale Nederlanden-building. It is the highest building we have here in the Netherlands.

Here's another picture of the old port, here you can see some of the old machinery used in the port quite some time ago. Far in the background you can again see Holland's first skyscraper.

This building is called De Maas. It's named after the river. A couple of years ago I was in Rotterdam with school and we got a guided tour about the architecture of the city. Apperently the architect used different tints and sizes of glass to represent the river, which is also different all the time.

Some very nice scenes from a city I'd like to visit!
Since you asked for criticism, let me mention only the obvious--a couple of extraneous objects (poles, traffic lights) stick in a couple of the photos and could've been cropped/cloned out, and I might try straightening some of the lines that lean in. Otherwise, nicely done.

This one is again under construction. The building has been there for quite a while, but mistakes had been made in the atachement of some of the plates. So now they are doing it all again.

I have been told that the shape of this building symbolises the curve of the river.

The cube-houses. These houses are designed as cubes standing at an angle. It looks pretty nice, but it's really not practical.

Another shot ot the cube-houses. On the left you see the train station on the square called Blaak.

And finaly, here is a stitch of two shots of the Saint Lawrence church. It was largely destroyed in the Second World War, but has been rebuilt.

Thanks, Norm. Rotterdam is a really nice city, that is if you like modern architecture. It's center has almost entirely been destroyed in the Second World War, and afterwards everything has been replaced by new buildings. I'll try to improve the straight lines and do some cropping. Thanks for the advice.
