Macro Lens for Evolt E500

I am new to SLR camera. Tired of lack of manual support from most digital camera.

I just got my E-500 2 days ago and currently looking for Macro Lens for the Camera. My main use on the camera will be for taking picture what inside a reef aquarium. So will be lot of Close-up picture of any kind of corals, fish and small animal in tank as small as a bug.

Will the following lense compatible with the E-500

1) Olympus Zuiko Digital 35mm f3.5 1:1 Macro Lens for E-System
2) Olympus Zuiko Digital 50mm f2.0 EP Macro 1:2 Lens for E-System


Which one is more suitable for doing a Macro on tiny stuff, like tiny worm inside a reef tank, small snails and stuff. I need something that I can take a good Close-up picture of tiny bug

Would you not want the 50mm with the larger aperture (f2.0) so you could shoot in low light without flash?

both will wrok wih your camera, and i would take the 50mm f2.

the 35mm give you more magnification but you have to be closer to the subject.

It might be a MUCH better idea to get the Sigma 105mm f2.8 1:1 macro. It has a longer focal length, so you can keep a bit more distance to your subject compared toa 35mm one. It also gives you a larger aperture for when that would be needed, and it is a very sharp and good lens.

Do I need an adapter of anykind for using the Sigma 105mm Macro. Will it fit the Evolt E500.

No you don't as long as you buy the lens made for the 4/3 mount. In germany you can buy this lens for 430 euro but you have to wait a few weeks for them to order it because the Olympus mount is not so common.
