This little guy (quite little) was infront of my car when I parked so I grabbed my camera and snapped a few off.
First, and suprisingly good, 160 mm equiv 1/15th sec. I got some flash shots too (and some misfocused ones, damn) but most impressed by the natural light IS one. Mind you the 1/250th flash is deffinitly sharper but overall for more then 3 stops too slow IS did a fantastic job.

IS potential is maximized in those circumstances.
I love it!

I'm with ya Tim, it's revolutionised a lot of my photography - and obviously yours too.
That's the 24-105 IS isn't it? How's the love affair now that the Honeymoon is over?

We're like any couple, it tells me what I can and can't do with it and I nod and go fix something...
:p
It's honestly a great lens. It has its limits and I've learned to accept them but when I threw around the idea of swapping to another lens I find myself saying "well it doesn't have the reach" or "It doesn't have the IS"
Am keeping it > f4 though. I've noticed a big jump in sharpness @ F4.5 vs F4. It's 1/3 a stop which is sorta annoying but it's not that big a deal for me, F4 is so slow it's flash required in most places that the IS compensates past that.

I'll admit though CW, I tried out a 24-70 and @ f4 got similar results, that either means I tried a bad 24-70 or I've got a poor technique but I've yet to see the "razor sharp prime" shots @ 100%. Viewed 50% or less your hard pressed to tell my L from the 50 1.4 stoped down to F5.6 but otherwise the primes always sharper.

I here what you're saying - I'll try and get my hands on a trial sometime soon. How's the size/weight for walk-around?

Size/weight and balance are very good.
Picked up a 430EX today and it's fantastic with it :) I'm so not a big flash person but I finally decided my onboard just wouldn't cut it... got a 15$ off and 2 year no interest offer from circuitcity so said "hey why not" 288$ out the door.
