... unless you are into continuous frame non-stop action shots, & even then you'd have to try some.Thats just what I think & don't know a whole lot about it all but there are some here that will give a very knowledgeable answer.

Ultra2 hits the max of all the cameras I've seen benchmarked.

2 gig Ultra2 probably your best bet.

Even the Ultra2 is overkill... I get exactly the same burst speed from my standard blue Sandisk 512 card as I do from my 133x rated Corsair card...
usually about 10-12 shots large/fine jpeg, 4 or 5 RAW at "top speed" before it slows down..varies on the complexity of the shot and what in-camera processing settings you use.

The camera is simply not capable of writing fast enough to take advantage of the higher speed cards.

That's not true, its just not fast enough to increase the buffer depth fast enough.

The complete buffer write time is faster on the ultra2 then on regular card. That is "time to dump full buffer" will be shorter.

Check newegg.com for the Transcend 80X 1GB card. It's only $25 and I've never had any problems with Transcend. And 80X is more than enough speed.
