EOS Viewer Utility

Is there a reason why my Viewer Utility will only show me the thumbnails. It wont allow me to save as a Tiff of JPG or allow me to use any of the adjustment tools in the tool bar. When I try to double click on the thumbnail it says can't view file. What am I missing.
I'm using a Mac OSX10.4.6 My camera is a 20D
