Here is a picture taken from the middle of the road beside my home. The view is a 3.5 mile length from where I am standing to the fir trees past where the road takes a small jog.
The Poles in front of the Fir Trees are 3 - 3.5 miles away, the curve sign past the far cyclist is 2.5 miles away. The lady on the bike with the child and dog behind her is 1.5 miles away. The biker with the 2 dogs has just turned onto the road at 1 mile, and the 3 kids on bikes are at 1/2 mile. The compression from the telephoto lens make a striking picture.
The camera is a Panasonic FZ20 with a Raynox 2.2x lens, mounted on a monopod.
