I have had a canon powershot pro 1 about one year. I have horizontal lines in all my pics it started out just a couple times when I was outside and now has increased to every picture inside or out anyone no what it is or how I can get rid of them would appreciate any advice as I am taking a trip soon and would hate to be without my camera.

Most likely there is a problem with your CCD. This is not something that you'll be able to fix in short order. I don't know if Canon will honor this as a warrenty repair, I recall (hah!) that there was a service announcement by Canon on a range of cameras.

If your trip is very soon, you'll want to see about getting a replacement camera. To fix this you'll need to send it to Canon, and that's never quick.

Thanks for the speedy reply Dave I do not know what a CCD is and I looked in my manual but if you meant LCD it is not only in the monitor but also in the downloaded pics on the computer and printouts here is an example also I looked up some old threads in this forum and a few others have had the same thing with different canons but I couldn't find one with a solution or even a cause.

CCD is the image sensor, the heart of your camera. It's what captures the picture. It's going bad and it's not something that can be fixed without sending it back to Canon.

Thanks Dave for all your info it's really appreciated I'm going to go cry now then kick my camera. But I've already been looking at the reviews for the new canon S3I6 I like the sound of that image stabilizer. Anyway thanks again from Kat.
