What is the expected life of p&s digital cameras?
I am especially looking at the canon, and possibly nikon models.
Wondering if i should buy an esp plan (no questions asked- repair policy) at ritz camera for 2 years or if my camera will be junk by then anyway?

Best way to do it, pay with a Platinum MasterCard or VISA - they double your warranty for FREE, through the card association. In addition, they give you a 90-day warranty against accidental damage, theft and loss.

i don't see the crazy advancements in p&s cameras anymore so maybe it won't seem like junk in a year or two. i'm not a fan of esp plans but this is really your call.

Roughly, how much does it cost to repair a canon or nikon p&s camera in the first place?
I know it depends on the work needed, but say a complete overhaul cause it was really messed up.

With the price of cameras falling and features improving, with any but the most expensive cameras it is usually cheaper to replace rather than pay for a skilled technician to work on anything but the simplest of repairs these days.

Agreed. Plus if you use it as part of your business then you can simply bin it and claim a new one against tax. I advised my wife to do this annually with her laptops since the whole office uses hers.
