Hi,

Im about to upgrade my old Sony Mavica and ive narrowed my choice down to 2 cameras. Either the Fuji Finepix S7000 or the Panasonic FZ20. I really cant decide between yet! Price isnt really an issue. If anybody can give me any pointers about what direction to go in I would be much obliged.

I mainly use my camera for taking photos of my artwork and for landscape photography.

thanks,
Rob

Briefly I say go for the FZ20 it has a better zoom range, far sharper lens, and the icing on the cake is the image stabilizer. I firmly feel any superzoom digicam should have this feature otherwise the longer focal lenghts become limited in their usefulness.

I think for landscape work you would often be using the longer end of the zoom range and of course the Panasonic is a 12 times zoom as well.

Probably the most important issues for you is image quality, the Fuji (like most fuji digicams in my opinion) turns grass and fine green details to mush, it may be something due to the cameras compression or just its processing.
the panasonic does a much better job with grass etc so for landscapes the panasonic would be a better choice.

Finally before all you fuji owners get upset don't get me wrong I think the fuji is a good camera but the game has moved on in last 12 months and fuji have not yet properly responded.
