Hello all, as I'm in the process of buying a CP8400, I wanted to know the firmware version number of a recent CP8400 just to check I'm buying the latest model. Also, does the CP8400 has a proprietary power plug? If that is the case, I will have to buy yet another power adapter.

Thanks for the information! Jos Gysenbergs http://www.gysenbergs.be/gallery/

Found out after much digging. 8400 production models have firmware 1.1. Also, it seems the 8400 has a proprietary power plug. Too bad ... -JG

Whatever firmware is the latest would be shipped on production cameras, and the "proprietary power plug" comes included with the camera, doesn't it? I'm missing your point here. :(

Nikon just provides a battery charger, one has to buy a separate power supply.

I'm quite sure you are aware that it is possible to use the battery when copying pictures to a PC or use the camera in a studio environment but that will rapidly drain the battery. You certainly know that a lithium battery is expensive and doesn't live forever so it's a good idea to use a power supply in these circumstances. When the camera has a standard power supply connection it is possible to use a regulated lab power supply (my case) or any other power supply as long as it has the correct output voltage and power specs.

I was just interested in the firmware version number as I bought the camera from a supplier I don't know and the only numbers I could find on the net were beta.

Meanwhile, there are some sample shots on
