guess i will be doing some upcomiing weddings...

i have the 70-200 VR, but am going to require so more wide angle

since i splurged on the VR i need to scrimp on this purchase..

id like the AFS...but not going to happen

how would you guys rate the nikkor 35-70 f2.8 VS the sigmas either 24-70 EX f2.8 or i am leaning more to the 17-55 f2.8?

speed for weddings in not too important i guess....but would likely be using it for basketball tourneys next yrs...so would like a fast focuser

am thinking of getting the 50 f1.8....but may hold off if i get one of the above??

thanks guys/gals

get the Tokina 12-24 and take all your pictures at 12mm really close up so you make their noses look gargantuan! lol

If 24mm is wide enough for you, the 24-70 from Sigma is a very nice lens. George is in love with it on his D70.
The 17-55 nikkor is also a very good lens, but of course quite a bit more expensive. It goes a lot wider...

the nikkor 35-70 f2.8 is great lense but no wide angle on a 1.5 crop factor DSLR.
tokina 12-24 is excellent value for money, and the tamron 17-35 ditto.

as far as i know the sigma 24-70 EX is very appreciated too.

don't forget the new sigma 17-70 DC.

Ya know... I could never understand why my sister was so scared of horses when looking up at their faces from the angle shown in coldrains pic. Now I nose why! :)
