I've read a lot about people using them, and how wonderful they are, but where can I find a good one for the S2?
Non-ebay links would be appreciated.
Also, how do they actually work, do you have to have either the 52 or the 58 or is that something different. I'm very confused about the whole process, and know close to nothing about any of it.
Any actual, insight about the whole process of attaching anything to the end of the lens would be extremely helpful.
Thanks

All you need is a Canon (58mm) or Lensmate (52 or 58mm) lens adapter, then you can screw on any 58 or 52mm polarizer filter. I'd suggest the 52mm lensmate one, it has a great finish that looks good on your camera.

(What's the difference between the 58 and the 52?)
So I'd need to buy the Lensmate 52mm (If that were the one I was going to get) AND a 52mm Polarizer to put on top of that?
And if I'd do that there wouldn't be any vignetting?
Which Polarizer do you recommend on Lenmate, I see a couple different ones, is one better then another, or...
And how difficult would the actual set-up be?
Thanks for any help.

The linear is better, contrary to popular false beliefs - and it is cheaper. The issue comes in when using a SLR or some dSLR cameras where only circular can be used. The Hoya brand is a good "middle of the road" product.

Can the clip-on lens cap go on top of the polarizer? Or is it just for the adapter?

It goes right over it - or any other filter/lens for that matter.

Ive tried all 3. I first got the 58mm from lensmate and a 58mm filter kit. I notice some lens shadow with the 58 but i like the lensmate 58mm adapter better. I then got a cheap 52mm with a lenscap and a flower hood off e-bay and it doesnt block the flash as much with the hood off. I then got some 52mm filters for it. I read that everyone says the circular polarizers are better so i got one and i like the linear better. It doesn seem as dark ast the cicular one. The S2 needs all the light it can get so another lost step isnt going to help.
When you look on e-bay and you see the polarizers one of them shows this girl in a car behind a windwo and you cant see her all you can see is the glare. Then it shows one that looks like the window is rolled down and it almost doesnt seem real but thats how they work. I was kinda shoked when i got mine how well it actualy works. Dont ask me how but its neat.

If i was to recomend an adapter i would say the 52mm. Everyone said the ones on e-bay did not fit good but the one i got was about half the cost as the lensmate and it fits the same as the 58 i got from lensmate.

I would say go with the 52mm and the circular polarizer. Thats what I have and love it.

But they are so dark, and i dont see any difference in the way they work. I do however see the extra stop lost.

All the circular will do on the S2 is restrict more light - linear is the right choice. Circular is ONLY used in the SLR and dSLR world where TTL functions prohibit the use of linear. The linear is cheaper, not because it doesn't do the job but because it costs a little more to make circular and the buyers of circular are owners of higher end cameras - that is all.
I hate to break it to you circular guys ... but your filter is a linear filter with an additional plate added for a 1/4 wave light modification.
Now ... please go purchase a nice, reasonable, proper LINEAR polarizer for your S2 - the Hoya DC for $17.95 at Lensmate is a great value.

Yeah, yeah, I've got it all set up and ready to go, but the 52mm is out of stock right now, so I'm going to wait to buy the other stuff I want.
One of which is the Hoya 52mm ND8 Filter, has anyone has experiences with these? I think they'll help out my panning shots during the day, and the depth of field change is a nice extra.
And, this may be stupid but what is the difference between 52mm, and 58?

just the size (diameter). One is 58mm (bigger), the other 52mm. The 58mm is only necessary if you have 58mm accesories.

Mmm, alright, so I'm assuming that the 6mm difference doesn't make even the slightest difference in what the camera picks up...thanks.

Like I said I love my Circular and I know its just a linear with a 1/4 wave light modification. I took these pis a few weeks ago with the circular.

I like the second-to-the-last the best, although I wish the crop was a little different...i.e. higher up from the bottom, and closer in from the right, so it looks like the plane is flying (more) into the picture.
Nice shots.

Well for the extra money im not going to waste it on the CPL when the PL does what i need for near half the cost.
If you dig around i think you can get the 52mm PL and an S2 adapter.
I like the way the 58mm adapter and filters look on the camera but the performance is better with the 52. I eould recomend the 52
