Hi

I have an IXUS 500 and a 2GB flash card and I would be really glad if I could record more then 30sec of video with 680x480. I’m not sure why there is a limit but is there a way to remove it?

Thanks..

I thought the limit was 60 secs? I can record 60 secs with my SD300, which I assumed had the same video mode. It's possible that your memory card is too slow and you fill up the buffer at 30 secs, what speed is your memory card?

But in the end you won't be able to increase the hard limit (either 30 or 60 seconds) as the camera can't buffer more than that.

Oh, the restriction for that camera may well be 30 seconds, I was confused by the many names for Canons around the world. it doesn't sound like the card speed is the issue. I don't think the camera is capable of recording more than the 30 seconds limit, it's a hardware restriction. You're stuck at 30 seconds in that mode.
