well, the weekend concluded, i took over 3000 pics!!!!!!!!!
i am unbelievably sore from holding the stupid camera....
it was extremely fun, especially to hear the kids when they see their pics up on the 19" monitor...... makes me wish someone did this when i was younger!!
also, anyone worried about the D70s and noise,...dont bother....with the SB800 and ISO 1250.....i heard no complaints... get one and enjoy taking pics

noise is only an issue when underexposure is predominant.
SB800 at a hockey game? How did you avoid glare from the plexi?
excellent shot BTW.
3000!!! shots?
That's a lot.

Very nice shots. Looks like your SB800 was set to full blast mode ;) Im guessing you were 20-30 ft from that player? Thats great range from a speed light!

I like the little Canadian flags on the jerseys myself, makes me kinda homesick...:(

cool pics...i'd be interested in seeing exposure info.
you said hats off to "real" photographers. was this your first time to shoot a game? sounds like a lot of fun!!
one question i have is about the color of the kids skin. is the paleness due to color balance?
thanks for sharing!

thanks for the comments, yes it was my first real "gig" as it were, it was a blast!
for the most part i was between f2.8 and 3.5 with a shutter speed of 320, sometimes 400 to just play around
i stayed at ISO 1250
i thiik the paleness is from toomuch flash, but since i no little it is just a guess..
the thing(sb800) is awewome....would light a kid up at both ends of the rink!!
i had it set in iTTL and its range was 66ft, so i bumped EV up 1/3 to soften the effect of the flash (59ft), but could of used more, but not sure if messing with EV was the right way to go??

i beleive (for instance) i was at the far blue line pentalty box for this set of pics..
so the flash went from the blueline, over the redline and the other blueline to the end net.....not too shabby
