View Full Version : Canon i560
Has anybody any comments on the Canon i560 printer?
I'm thinking of buying one here in the US and taking it home. I can get it (after rebate) for $60 which equates to about GBP 40 which is half the price I'd pay in Britain.

I have this printer and it is great for the money. I have several 8x10's hanging in my house that I printed from the printer and they are as good as anything I have printed at CVS. It is PictBridge enabled so you can print right from your camera. It uses 4 different (cheap) ink tanks, and after 4 or so months of moderate use, I am still on my first set of ink.
The only issue that I have had is that the prints are pretty contrasty. I usually bump up the contrast in PS before printing at CVS, and they come out perfectly. When I print the same pics on the i560 they are too contrasty. I chalk this up to the fact that most Canon digicams produce fairly low contrast images. The printer is trying to compensate. If I print without bumping up the contrast in PS they come out of the printer looking great.

I've got a i850, love it. The i560 has less memory and will take longer to print but other than that, same head, same ink. I've seen a lot of complaints about head life and I just had to replace the head ($60.00) on mine after two years of what I'd call fairly light use (the black head started leaking) but other than that I love the printer. The pixma line is the newer version of this line and those are supposedly really good too.
