can anyone explain to me why the picture taken by my SD450 seems to have darker upper edges compared to the one taken by my C-5050?

almost all picture i take using my Canon SD450 has that arching dark edges on the top of the pictures when using flash in a not so well lighted area. It doesn't have that problem when i take pictures sunny bright day when i take pictures outside.

I don't know why Canon SD450 has that, if all Canon SD450 has that, then i guess that's normal, but if mine is the only one that has that problem, it's weird.

It is normal. You are so close to the subject that the flash just does not reach that wide onto the carpet, the carpet just is darker. You see the same thing in the 5050 pic, just the bottom corners. They dont get that much flash light either.

Try and diffuse the flash with some paper over the flash. It will spread the flash out quicker
