Hi all,
I’m looking for opinions and incites for these two cameras.
From some reviews I get the impression that the Kodak has slightly better print and image quality (chromatic aberration and Corner Sharpness). And the larger max aperture and higher quality EVF seem like a big advantage.
On the other hand the Fuji pics I’ve seen still look good. And it seems like a better piece of kit. Buts its up to £70 more, factoring in a 512 memory card.

Its for my dad (though I’ll be using it too :) ), who used to be quite into photography. His eye site is failing so the EVF is a consideration (Kodak is higher res, Fuji has dioptric adjustment)

It’ll be used for all types of things from close up nature, to twilight landscapes, to indoor gatherings. And it will be taken on holidays of course.

I think we’d like to do a few large (8x10) prints. Maybe larger if someone gets a really good shot but probably not.

Do people get consistently good shots with auto settings (as good as with cheaper digital cameras)?. We’ll be making use of the manual features but I would like to have good auto settings to fall back on.
Does the quality of the EVF affect your judgment when taking a shot?
Is the Fuji’s smaller aperture ever a problem.
I think in low light, using higher iso settings, instead of a larger aperture is not as good is it? But then the Fuji low light shots I’ve seen do look good.

Well that’s about it. Thanks for your time.

In low light you need all the ISO *and* aperture that you can get, and Fuji is the one for ISO. I have the 5200 and it works great in auto mode. Plus, its "natural light" mode is pretty much the same as auto but keeps the colors true for night shots. I don't know the Kodak model, but I think your dad will love the Fuji.
