Will be uploading photos to a photo service for the first time to get 4"x6" prints. Since uploading photos can be a slow process I want to reduce the resolution from our 7MP camera to the smallest size possible that will still result in optimum 4"x6" print quality. What size do you use?

Thanks,
Mike

The service your using should have minumum recommened resolutions listed for various size prints. What service are you using? You also may want to provide them with higher resolution pictures then the minumum they recommend for sharp prints.

1800x1200 is plenty for a 4x6 inch print. That allows for 300PPI printing. Just don't use any web compression when you save the newly sized file. Save it at 100% quality or 10/10 or 12/12 or whatever the scale is in your software.
