I bought a Konica-minolta 5D camera about 2 months ago with a 18-70 zoom lense along with a Sigm EF-500 DG Super flash . I am not happy with the amount of zoom on the lense. I use it to take pictures of kids and when going on vacations. I was looking at lenses like the 28-200 and 28-300 but the price ranges are so large I am really confused. Money is real tight right now and don'd know how much price really makes a difference with doing photography like I am. I also need to know if going past 200mm will I get alot a blurring in pictures from hand held shots. My hands are not as steady as they use to be. I really need some help on this...What should I do?

I've had good results purchasing a used lens off ebay. I have also heard good things about the web site below.

A well-cared for lens should provide years of good service.

Good luck,

Bob

I have been looking at used autofocus lenses and I have looked at Sigma and Tamaron lenses and several others. My problem is they come at different price levels and dont know if I really need to spend alot for lense. I know you get what you pay for just wanted to know a price range to stay in to know I am getting a good lense, and not being short sighted on buying the cheapest one I can find on the internet.

I also would like to know since I dont have the most steady hand in the world what is the longest zoom I should be considering...200mm or 300mm.

Any specific brand and model would be greatly appreciated.

well your maxxum D5D is stabilized so you can easily shoot at 200 mm or more but don't forget to turn on the AS before.

the better used lens is the minolta 70/210 f4, great sharpness.
otherwise the sigma 70-300 APO DG macro (the eaxct reference is important) is a very good value for money.

significant Rebates on their lenses, this month.

It's worth a look, right?

I have the same camera and bought a 28-300 lens at circut city Konica Minolta brand for about 160.00. I use the lens to take pictures of my son playing soccer, I can get great shots all the way accross the field. I take picture as a hobby and I am very, very pleased with the results I get. I have not had one blurred photo.
