I have owned Olympus and Canon non-dslr cameras and have add some issues will all of them. As someone posted, their is not perfect camera.
I was interested in changing mid-stream here and getting a Nikon.
The D SLR's have high ratings ,but it does not appear that anyone cares much for the point and shoot line. Expecially the re-cycling of flash.
I am curious if nikon makes a worthy model like the Canon 620 or 700
thanks all

If you consider the Canon 620 and 700 a "worth model" why not just go with a Canon?

I am not against Canon at all. I am more curious why/how nikon can make such good DSLR's and not make good point and shoot models like Canon

Not sure why you would want to talk down the Nikon point and shoots. I have a Nikon Coolpix 5200 and it's a great little thing to have in your jacket pocket. Take a look at the reviews the number of exposure modes on a small camera is remarkable. My father has a Canon Sureshot A70 (or something) and it's in league 2 by comparison.
Nikon D50 is pretty awesome too for the price!

NO Edboy, Please don't think I was talking down about Nikon, I am actually thinking of selling my Canon Eos digital and going to a Nikon D50.
My concern on Nikon P & S is the slow turnaround on flash to next picture.
I would love to see a Nikon post a high rating like the canon's
but it no was am I putting Nikon down
