Download to computer

I just got a Canon a530. It comes with a cd with software for downloading and editing.
I already have PaintShopPro X which automatically downloads when I connect via USB (I already have a Sony PSC 717)
Do I need to install the Canon software or will the PSPX take care of it?

No, you don't need to download the software. Your computer will recognize the camera as a USB device. A card reader makes life more convenient, but it's not needed.

I've got my cameras in a bag hanging off the doorknob which is about 6 inches from the back of my computer tower, and an empty usb cable draped over the doorknob so it's a snap to just plug it in and go.
I'll do the same with the new camera.
