Hi -

I'm a medical resident and nature-lover who wants to take macro shots with my FZ7 at work and in my garden.

My question is this: The Fz7 comes with an adapter that allows you to connect 52mm filters to the lens, right? But does that mean you can also connect 52mm close up lenses or 52mm telephoto/wide lenses? Is panasonic trying to scam me into buying the expensive adapter to turn 52 into 55mm and then buy their more expensive 55mm lenses? Or is there some reason for the change that I can't understand. I'd love to buy the cheaper 52mm accessories if I can get away with it!

Thanks so much! :)

While I do not have a FZ7, I am pretty sure you can use 52mm accessories.
It is not so much that panasonic is trying to get you to buy their lens as many popular options are 55mm as many are 52mm.
I am not sure why they choose to make the adapter they include, 52 mm.

Maybe someone with a FZ7 can give you a definite answer.

I have given up trying to figure out Panasonic’s motivation but putting that aside I recommend a 52mm mount Nikon 4T you will not be disappointed.
